Scrubs (2001) - 31 corrections

starring Donald Faison, John C. McGinley, Judy Reyes, Ken Jenkins, Neil Flynn, Sarah Chalke, Zach Braff (add more)

Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click the edit icon under an entry, then choose "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.

Show season: Whole show  1  2  3  4  5  6  All

Across whole show

Entry At one point, it is revealed that the Janitor's name in the show is Neil Flynn (the actor's name), and J.D. sees him in a bit part he played in the Harrison Ford movie "The Fugitive." So, in essence, while everyone else are fictional characters, Neil Flynn is playing himself - as a sadistic janitor. [The Janitor's name is never actually revealed; Neil Flynn's real-life past was used to give his character some depth, but the latter remains known to all and sundry only as 'Janitor'.]
Entry The shot of J.D. walking toward Sacred Heart hospital is re-used so many times. Note the lady pushing the man in the wheelchair and the two doctors standing by the wall talking. [How is this a mistake? It's just a recurring shot used over various episodes.]
Entry The janitor's lines are often unplanned, with the script simply saying, "Janitor says something". [Incorrect. The Janitor has lines, but often does variations of them. As evident by the fact that his co-stars always manage to have suitable responses.]
Entry Keith, Lisa, Rex and a few others were JDs interns at the start of season five. Then once Keith starts to date Elliot, they suddenly become Elliot's interns. The interns Elliot had earlier in the season just disappear. [The interns just switched attendings. Whilst Turk's been at Sacred Heart he's had numerous attendings.]
Entry In the 23rd episode of season 5, Turk tells JD he hasn't noticed Kim because she wears a wedding ring. He then goes on to cite that she was there during his first day and at Ben's funeral. It then shows clips of these two scenes. In his "first day" scene taken from the pilot episode, Kim is shown between JD and Carla as JD is celebrating, but was absent from this scene in the first episode. During Ben's funeral, Kim is shown sitting behind and between JD and Dr. Cox, which is a seat taken by Carla during the actual scene. [This is a joke, meant to emphasize his obliviousness. Like many flashbacks and fantasies in the show, it isn't meant to be taken seriously.]

My Hero (2) (series 1)

Entry When Dr. Kelso is confronting Dr. Reed about her assessment of him, the clock behind them is at 1:50. The shot changes and then changes back and you can't even see the clock hands (they've moved to above the frame of the shot), and less than 10 seconds had passed. [The clock is only seen twice during the conversation, and on both occasions the time is the same at 1:50.]

My Student (series 1)

Entry In this episode, they make a big deal of the new med students that Turk, JD and Elliot will be responsible for. However, JD and Elliot's students are never seen or mentioned again throughout the series. [It's hardly a mistake for two extremely minor characters, introduced solely as foils for the main ones, to disappear. Turk's med student vanishes after the next episode, as well.]

My Heavy Meddle (series 1)

Entry When Turk, JD, Elliot, and Carla are on the roof throwing things off, they each grab a watermelon. When the camera shows them landing, it's only 3 that hit, and none of them held back. [That's because one of the watermelons (Carla's) landed out of the framing of the shot.]

My Blind Date (series 1)

Entry In the first episode, JD pronounces a man dead at 0200, indicating that the hospital uses 24 hour time. But in this episode, Elliot pronounces the man dead at 1155. 1155 in 24 hour time refers to 11:55 AM but the time is actually 11:55PM, so Elliot should have said 2355. [It could be the person's personal preference. Also, whoever's writing it down could record it correctly if that was a problem.]
Entry When you see the hospital social worker slip just before the starting credits, it is clue she is a brunette. Yet at the end when she is coming out of the MRI scan, you can see the bottom of her hair which is very blonde. [The lighting can make her brown hair look blonde. Alex, the girl in the MRI scan, is always played by Elizabeth Bogush, including in that shot. Furthermore, you can see the rest of that shot in the following episode and her hair is most definitely brown.]
Entry When the social worker is feeling for a wedding ring on JD'S hand, she is feeling his right hand.not his left, where most married people would wear it. [It's not unreasonable to think she might not realise it's the wrong hand as she can't see it and it was just a way to let JD know she's interested in him.]

My Day Off (series 1)

Entry When JD is admitted and meets the janitor when he is eating an apple, an impossible large amount of the apple is eaten between shots, as he takes only one bite. [The Janitor already has a few big bites out of the apple even before he starts talking to J.D.]
Entry When J.D. has his appendectomy, Turk is cutting on his left side. The appendix is on the right side of the body. Ironically, J.D. is commenting in the voice-over about what a great surgeon Turk is. [About one in 10,000 people have 'situs inversus', a total reversal of their organs. In such a case, the appendix would be on the left. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Situs_inversus]

My Two Dads (series 1)

Entry In the scene at the golf-course Dr.Cox is talking to J.D and in the background there is a person visible for a short while behind the large tree in the background. There aren't any other people there and the person does not appear to play golf. [Many golf courses contain public rights of way, making it entirely possible for a non-golfer to be there. Without evidence that this is a member of the crew, the presence of somebody else in the background cannot be considered unreasonable.]

My Old Lady (series 1)

Entry In the scene where JD plays Death in connect four, Death wins with a diagonal connect four. There were 6 black pieces and 8 red pieces. Based on normal connect four rules, no matter who starts the game, the game will always end with the same number used for each color. [This was JD's fantasy/dream. He could have any amount of one color and it wouldn't matter, since it was his dream to make it any way he saw fit.]

My Mentor (series 1)

Entry While trying to attract Dr. Cox's attention, J.D. switches off his television, using the on/off switch on the set itself. After throwing J.D. out, Cox turns the television back on using the remote. That isn't possible. He'd have to get up and switch the television on before the remote would operate. [There are often stand-by buttons on both the set and the remote.]

My New Old Friend (series 2)

Entry When the janitor is talking about stuff he took from JD's locker, he shows him the blue 'scrubs' he will use to pretend he's a doctor at his son's career day. But later, as Dr. Jan Itor, he is wearing a long white doctor's coat, which JD doesn't have. [The latter scene is taking place in JDs head].

My Fruit Cups (series 2)

Updated recently Throughout the series, JD and Turk are shown to be major sitcom geeks. At one point in the episode, JD says to Turk he Marcia Brady'd his ass, and explains what it means. Turk responds along the lines of "Yea, I know. 'Marcia Gets Creamed' Season 5 episode 3. Don't ever question me about The Bunch!" 'Marcia Gets Creamed' is season 5 episode 10. Episode 3 is 'The Elopement'. Not a mistake a couple of geeks would make. [Geeks can (and do) make mistakes all the time. It is still only a character mistake.]

My First Step (series 2)

Entry When JD and Elliot go bungee jumping stunt people were used instead of the real actors. The two stunt people met on the set and are now married. [Unless you can see their faces on camera without freeze framing, this is not a mistake. It is trivia.]

My Moment of Un-Truth (series 3)

Entry In season 3 on disc 2, The last episode is titled "My Moment of Un-Truth". But on the inside cover showing the episodes says "My Moment Of Truth". [Not a film mistake.]
