Whenever Disco Stu is mentioned when Marge is around, she always says 'Who's Disco Stu?' [Marge doesn't say that *every time* Disco Stu is mentioned. She doesn't say that when Disco Stu is flirting with her at the ski lodge in the episode "Little Big Mom". The only time I can recall Marge saying that is when she sees Homer's Disco Stud jacket.]

Mistakes
When Homer and Sideshow Bob are chasing the mechanic on stilts, the mechanic tries to get away, and his cape falls off while he is being chased. In the next shot, we see a close-up of the mechanic, and you can see his red cape is back on again. Then in the next shot, we see Homer and Bob chasing him, and his cape is off. See more...
Trivia
James L. Brooks, the executive producer, was so enthusiastic about the episode's premise that he wanted to make it the official Simpsons movie. This idea was abandoned because the writers had problems getting the story to 23 minutes, let alone 90 minutes. See more...

Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click the edit icon under an entry, then choose "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.

When the women of the neighbourhood throw Marge a baby shower because she's pregnant with Maggie (flashback, before they moved to Springfield), Ruth Powers is one of the ladies there. Ruth only met Marge when she moved to Springfield in Season 4, Episode 8. [While this may be true, for Maggie to be one year old in this season six flashback episode, Marge's baby shower would have taken place between a year and a half and two years previously. Ruth Powers was introduced two years before this flashback episode, making her appearance at the baby shower possible. Still a mistake of sorts, but a lot of problems like this are created by the fact that the characters never age. Also, the Simpsons moved to Springfield when Lisa was born, not when Maggie was born.]
At the beginning of each episode Homer is working at the power plant when some radioactive material becomes lodged on his back. Later, when he is driving home, the material is on his shirt even though he was wearing a protective suit when the material became lodged. [The radioactive bar doesn't stick to the outside of his suit, it goes down inside his collar. When he's in the car, he finally figures out that something's in his shirt and pulls it out.]
Milhouse actually has two 10th birthday parties, the one that Bart was not invited because Milhouse's mom said he was a bad influence, and the one where he is bragging to Bart about how his dad got Krusty the Klown (which really was Homer) to his party. [Technically, Milhouse has probably had many more 10th b-day parties than that (as has the whole cast), considering no one has aged during the entire series (Bart's still in 4th grade, Lisa is still 8 years old, and Maggie's only said one word.)]
Creator Matt Groening's initals were initially in Homer Simpson's hair and ear from the side. Matt Groening says himself (in one of the Simpsons comic book specials) that he changed it because it would be too distracting if the secret ever got out. He also says that he puts them in now only when he is drawing pictures for fans. [Matt groening didnt take the initials from homers hair and ear away for along time, and not for that reason, in fact in one episod Homer shows Lisa how to draw simpsons and he actually says, "and for some strange reason my hair and my ear make up the letters M and G."]
In the opening of the show, when Marge pulls into the driveway, you can see that there is no badge on the hood of the car, but when it shows a close up of the front of the car when Homer is running away, there is a grey badge with a star on it [I've viewed the opening in seasons 1,2,3,4 and 5 etc., and in every opening you can make out a small grey badge on the hood as Marge pulls into the drive in the wideshot. It's then very noticeable when it cuts to the closeup of the front of the car.]
The location of Evergreen Terrace and the Simpson home changes dramatically. In 'Homer the Great' the power plant car park runs past the Simpson's backyard while in the rest of the series its in the middle of a housing estate. In 'two bad neighbours' and other episodes there is a row of houses opposite the Simpsons, while in some episodes the Simpson's house is visible without opposite houses. [Whenever something like this happens it's usually done intentionally for comedic effect, such as Homer having to park so far away from work that it's right by his house. It's not like the writers and animators forgot what is around the Simpson's house.]
This is not for a particular episode, but it happens in many episodes. Sometimes, people will enter the living room (where the TV is), from sides which don't actually have doors. [Not so, there are doors on all three sides of the room (not including the 'TV Wall'). Assuming the position of the TV, there is a door on the wall in front of you, into the kitchen, an archway that leads into the entrance hall and one to the left. A little used but obvious door to the garden.]
In some episodes where they show Marge as a teenager, she has long hair thats down and straight. In others, she has her hair the way it is currently, straight up. [Marge as a "child" had her hair up like her mother, she than had it down when she was in high school but put it up again for the prom and later put it up permanently.]
In the opening of some of the episodes, just when Bart is skateboarding by Homer, he rides past Moe's. Then, right beside Moe's, is a TV or electronic shop of some sorts. King Toots moves around from episode to episode. At times it is across the street, and other times it is on the same side of Moe's. [Everything in Springfield moves around. In the episode where Homer likes to walk to places instead of driving, you can see their home from Moes. At another time, their home is right behind the parking lot for the power plant. The whole show would technically be an error.]
Throughout the whole show, Homer indicates he has three religions. The first one where he becomes an astronaut, he says he is Christian. Then when he becomes a body guard for the mayor, he indicates he is Muslim when his instructor says he can't worship Muhammad and Homer replies, "Not even during Ramadan?" which is a holy day in Islam. And finally in "Bye, Bye Nerdy" he tells Apu he is Hindu. [The Simpsons are Christians. The Ramadan thing was just a throwaway joke. I don't know about the Hindu comment, but I bet it was a throwaway joke, too.]
Lisa's bedroom shifts positions in her house throughout the series. This is especially visible in the episode where she goes out with Nelson, and in the episode where she thinks that she is losing her intelligence. [There's no reason why, if the Simpsons have a spare room, Lisa can't move her stuff into another room. It isn't exactly out of character.]
The oil stain on the Simpsons driveway changes from being there to not being there depending on the episode. [Seeing as this is between episodes, something could have happened to get rid of the stain and cause it to be there. For example, by one episode it could have been cleaned and by another the car could have leaked some oil. If that happened often, then it was probably done for humour.]
No matter what happens to the Simpsons' car(s) in an episode, whether they are damaged, crushed, shot with a gun or misused in someway they are always back the way they were originally in the following show. [The Simpsons doesn't flow from one episode to another. The treehouse has been broken. The house has been lit on fire. A lot of the characters die in the Halloween episodes, but they always come back.]
At certain points in the series, the multi-armed elephant god that Apu worships is called, "Vishnu," and at other times, it's referred to as, "Ganesh." [No, it's always called Ganesh because that's it's name. He sometimes prays to Vishnu, but the name of the elephant god never changed when he is talking to it.]
In the opening sequence of the show Marge's car pulls in and parks on the left side of the driveway (actually garage but still the left side) while Homer's car is on the right side. However, throughout the series Homer has always parked his car on the left side and Marge has parked hers on the right. [They do not always park with Homer on the left. When Homer hotwires her car in the Canyonaro episode, for example. His is on the right.]
(It's best if you watch this on a DVD, you will need to pause it) In the full opening credits, when the school kids are playing the Simpsons tune, the director will point to Lisa and the camera will quickly pan over to her. When it is doing this, pause it immediately. If you look carefully, you will notice Milhouse playing the trumpet. However, in one episode, Milhouse is seen playing the clarinet. [So Millhouse can play the trumpet and the clarinet. In one scene Lisa - a saxophone player - plays the guitar. They both have wide ranging musical skills, and that's not a mistake.]
