Real Time with Bill Maher is back on! One of the reasons I still shell out money for HBO instead of just buying movies on www.half.com . I only got to watch half of it tonight, will catch up on the remainder later. Some good chuckles in the opening monologue:
Quote:
Being politicians you know, they all got to sharing their personal stories. Obama talked about his mother’s battle with cancer. And Harry Reid talked about a kid with a cleft palate. And John McCain told how he once carried a brain dead woman through an entire campaign

Quote:
The games were fun, but there were some high-profile mistakes, come on. Admit it. Like the terrible decision to let Toyota design the luge.

Quote:
Also in the category of obvious but still shocking, an animal called a killer whale killed someone who was trying to play with it. Now, no one knows exactly what enraged the whale, but earlier in the week, it had been thrown off a flight by Southwest Airlines.

Not really sure who this Bill Maher chap is, but I did rather like an analysis he wrote of the whole Tiger Woods, Sex Addict thing.

Punchline's a killer...

Maher was host of a "chat show" on the Comedy Central cable network. It was so popular that a major network picked up his show, only to later fire him when he made some extremely unpopular smart cracks. (Well, he didn't call his program "Politically Incorrect" for nothing, but he's now back on the air on HBO, a pay channel, with a similar show.) He's a notorious ultra-liberal rabble-rouser who has always advocated for free and open sex because it's "just men doing what men do naturally!"

I almost never agree with anything the guy says, but I still enjoy hearing him say it. Laughing

I just see that no good can come from this, then again "Gilligan's Island" provided some of the few good memories of my childhood so I am probably biased. Smile

'Gilligan's Island' headed to the bigscreen

Even if it never makes it to the big screen you gotta love the reactions to the announcement. Whenever you have a big movie announcement on the internet (real or fake) there's always the casting buzz. Remember when they started speculating about the next Batman movie? Someone mentioned Phillip Seymore Hoffman as the penguin and the rumor got passed around so quickly that people thought they had a peguin script in development and Hoffman was signed on to play the role. None of that turned out to be true, of course. Now Hoffman's name is being tossed around again to fill the role of the skipper, with Michael Cera as Gilligan and Beyonce as Ginger. Let the rumor mill begin!

I really thought "Band of Brothers" was amazing and I am eager to see "The Pacific" which begins Sunday on HBO.

‘The Pacific’ joins ‘Band of Brothers’ ranks -HBO’s unsparing depiction of WWII shifts focus to lesser-known theater

Hmm, yes, Band of Brothers was quite excellent - will be interested to see what they do with The Pacific.

Nope, not interested. Enough with the WWs already. There were other major world event—yes, even gruesome wars!—along the centuries. Change your tune, it's gotten old a long time ago.
