In the scene where they are heading to boston they are in a convertible with the top up, and when they pull into the rest area, the top is now down. [So at some point during the trip they put the top down. It could have been a nice day, so they decided to put the top down sometime before they arrived at the rest area. It only takes less than a minute to put a top up or down.]
When the trio is driving to Baltimore, Helen Hunt is at the wheel at one point. She says that she is going to pull over to give Simon her undivided attention. When she says this the convertible top is down, but in the next scene, the top is up before she stops the car. [There would have been plenty of time for her to hit the button to put the top up so that by the time she did pull over the outside noises would be gone and she could then give her undivided attention to Simon.]
When Simon is drawing Carol she had just come from the restaurant with Melvin and it was dark outside. But when they show Simon ripping the cast from his arm, the window behind him is lit like it is daytime. [As one can see from the number of sketches Simon has been drawing all night. It's morning.]
At the beginning of the movie when Melvin is trying to get the dog in the elevator he presses a button to keep the door open, but after he puts the dog in the garbage shoot, he never released the button. When Simon comes out of his apartment to find his dog the elevator door is closed. [When Simon leaves his apartment the elevator is still open. After that shot, the elevator is not seen again in the scene.]
In the scene where they are driving the Volvo to Baltimore, Jack Nicholson is in the back seat listening to Greg Kinnear's story about his father. Jack has his sunglasses on his forehead, after a point in the story he raises his eyebrows so they fall back onto his nose. In the very next shot they are back on his forehead. [In the next shot they're still down. A couple of shots later, you see him pushing them back up again.]
When Jack & Helen are talking in the restaurant she has a plate of grapes (just a few) - when she turns around the plate is full. [There is the same number of grapes - in the first shot some are partially hidden by the curve of the bowl.]
In the scene where she is leaving to go to Jack Nicholson's house you can see her bra strap/connector in her overly tight shirt. By the time she gets to Jack's place she has on a very wet t-shirt with her nipples prominently showing. Did she give her bra to the bus driver? [Actually, she's just wearing an unpadded bra (aka soft cup). When she goes through the revolving door into the apartment building and that dressy woman gives her a weird look, you can see by her back that she's wearing a bra, it just doesn't deal with rain very well.]
When Helen Hunt decides to spent the night in Greg Kinnear's room she goes to take a bath and he decides to draw her. He rips his cast off his arm in pieces (and seems to do it pretty easily too) but in the next scene his cast is back on again. [He doesn't rip the whole cast off, just the hand part, meaning that the rest stays in place].
