On the Extended DVD version, in the scene where Timon and Pumbaa finally wake up Simba and talk to him, Timon says "Ghee, he looks blue" then Pumbaa replies "I'd say brownish gold", according to the subtitles it was Timon that said the "Brownish Gold" quote not Pumbaa. [Mistakes in the subtitles are not movie mistakes.]

Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click the edit icon under an entry, then choose "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.

During the "Be Prepared" scene, Scar kicks one of the hyenas off the ledge into the bone pile. When the hyena climbs back up the ledge, and is dropped off again by Scar, the background turns yellow and you can see that the ledge has changed drastically. [By this point, the song has turned into a fantasy sequence as evidenced by the stylized shadows and designs on the wall behind him, the hyenas goosestepping on a lined field, and Scar's ascension on a rock propelled by magma.]
When the wildebeest are stampeding, they appear to defy gravity by running straight down the side of a near-vertical side of the valley. [Watch some real-life footage of wildebeest stampedes - they run down some astonishingly steep slopes that look near-vertical in the footage. Strange as it looks, this is actually quite authentic.]
(May only apply to the original VHS release.) When Scar has Zazu locked up in a cage, Zazu mentions Mufasa's name and Scar yells at him, "What did you say?" Right before Scar's actual line, whilst Zazu is talking, you hear Scar's "What did you say?" line very faintly in the background, even though Zazu has not even mentioned Mufasa yet. [Scar is still singing the "coconuts" song, so that is likely what you hear.]
In the scene where Mufasa is clinging onto the rock after rescuing Simba and Scar is above him he says 'Scar brother help me'. If you listen very carefully he says the word 'brother' twice but his mouth only moves the second time he says it. [You can say the word "brother" without moving your mouth notably, especially if you're saying it almost as a moan as Mufasa does.]
When Mufasa is hanging off the cliff he calls to Scar, "Brother..." You can hear someone whisper this to him before he says the line. [It's true that you can hear a muffled "brother" before Mufasa cries it out. But that's actually Mufasa, struggling to hold on to the cliff. Listen to it, it's spoken by James Earl Jones, voice of Mufasa.]
After Simba collapses on the ledge, sending the seeds flying back to the Pride Lands, we see Rafiki catch them and he recognizes that Simba is alive. However, Rafiki's tree looks just the same as it has throughout the movie. Since the rest of the Pride Lands is dark, gray, and dead looking by that time, with all the trees bare and the grass gone, why does Rafiki's tree still look brightly colored with lots of green leaves on its branches? [We're never shown where Rafiki's tree is. He could live outside the Pride Lands, in an area similar to where Timon and Pumbaa live.]
When Simba and Mufasa look up at the stars at night (after the elephant grave yard), you can see the constellation Leo (obviously because the films about lions). but Leo can't be seen in Africa. [Actually, the constellation Leo can be seen in its entirety from anywhere on Earth above about 60 degrees South latitude. This includes all of Africa.]
During the singing of "I just can't wait to be King", when Simba sings, "Everybody look left, Everybody look right", he's actually moving to OUR left, then OUR right, the opposite direction of what he is saying. [In Disneys the Lion King Simba moves to the "kids viewing" left and right on purpose. It is difficult for young viewers to seperate your left from my left. The words are sung from viewers point of view.]
Pumba supposedly became an outcast because he smelled so bad, and he apparently still does because Timon often makes references to it. But neither Simba, Nala, nor any of the other animals meeting him for the first time react to his smell in any way. Of course they wouldn't make a big deal out of it if they're trying to be polite, but you'd think if he smelled that bad they'd have some reaction. [It's not exactly his regular smell that made him an outcast. It's his flatulence problem. It may very well be that, durring those scenes that we are shown, Pumbaa is simply not tooting.]
Simba is taken to a small pond through roots of trees and thorns and bushes by Rafiki to show him where Mufasa is. Soon after, Mufasa appears in the clouds, reveals to Simba who he really is, and disappears. The place where Simba stands shows no trace of the path covered. [The grass is tall and thick all around Simba. There would be no discernible paw prints from the side 'camera' angle, possibly only if it were veiwed from above.]
In the stampede scene, Mufasa is crawling up a slanted slope, but when we get an overhead view, it's straight down. [When viewed from the top of the rocky cliff, the steepness of the rocks isn't clear, so the view we have is more dramatic for the shot. It's only from a side view that can we see the incline.]
Near the end, When Zazu is in the cage of bones and Timon runs in with him because two of the hyenas are chasing him, Pumbaa follows them. Banzaii is in front, and Shenzi is by the cage. Banzaii calls Pumbaa a pig, and Pumbaa charges. We get a view of the two hyenas, and they have switched places. [During this scene, both Shenzi and Bonzai are in front of rib cage facing Timon and Zazu. We the viewers see them thru the ribs. When Pumbaa charges at Shenzi and Bonzai, they haven't switched places, they're still in front of the rib cage, they've just turned around to face a charging Pumbaa and the 'camera' angle is different.]
When Rafiki grabbed some of the dust that Simba had blown, Rafiki grabs a fruit thing form the tree, he breaks it in half and starts to eat the one half. Yet, when he puts his hand down to hold the turtle shell, and he gets up to go over to put the mane on Simba's picture, the fruit is gone and the turtle shell as well. [If you scrutinize this whole scene frame by frame you will notice when Rafiki is sitting with the turtle shell and fruit, he glances to his right(at Simba's picture on a tree to Rafiki's right). The cameras next shot pans Simba's picture then it goes back to where Rafiki is sitting with the turtle shell. Rafiki jumps and runs to get his 'staff'. He runs back to the tree that has Simba's picture on it, past where he was sitting with his turtle shell.]
When Mufasa and Simba are sitting atop Pride Rock there is a river to the right (South). When you see them walking with Pride Rock in the background the river has moved North. [The sun is rising facing the front of Pride Rock. The river is seen to theright(South) of Pride Rock. It flows East/West past Pride Rock then in the next couple of shots you can see it curves Northward. There is nothing unrealistic here.]
When everyone thinks Simba is dead, Rafiki (the monkey) is sitting on a branch beside the drawing of Simba. Later, when he finds out Simba is alive, the drawing is near a platform, not a branch. [When Rafiki thinks Simba is dead he's sitting on the overgrown roots of the tree that has Simba's picture on it. Simba's picture is on the same tree later. There is no platform.]
