Entry Before the movie came out, I read that it is going to be a trilogy. Is that true? [A lot of the time when a film of this nature is released, there will be ideas how the story could be continued - studios are always looking for the next successful franchise. Both Doug Liman and Hayden Christensen have commented that the film only covers about the opening third of an eventual storyline, suggesting that, provided that the studios are satisfied with the box office returns from the first film, that we can certainly expect sequels to appear. The book of the same name that the film was based on already has a sequel, entitled Reflex. Liman has already mentioned that some plot-strands from that novel will be factored into any cinematic sequel.]
Entry Why did some summaries for this movie (in newspapers, on websites, etc.) say that David goes looking for the man who killed his mother? In the movie, he seemed to believe that his mother left him and his father, and (if I remember correctly from the theater) didn't suspect that she was killed. [In the novel that this movie was based on, his mother was killed and David does go looking for the man who did it. Those doing the summaries are just confusing the two different versions.]
Entry Was there a reason why Hayden Christensen and Rachel Bilson didn't just play the high school versions of themselves in the flashbacks at the beginning of the movie? If their characters in the present are in their early 20's, it seems like it wouldn't have been a big stretch for them to play themselves as high school students. [Presumably the filmmakers wanted to emphasise that some time has passed since they last saw each other. If they still looked pretty much the same, which they would if played by the same people, that wouldn't be as clear.]
Entry I was watching the movie and something occured to me: shouldn't Mary's daughter (the one who answered the door at the end) also be a jumper? I'm not going to ask about jumper genetics because I know that's not fair, but I was just curious. Thanks. [It's certainly not out of the question. That being said, Sophie is only David's half-sister, as they have different fathers, so if the jumper traits came from David's father, or from some genetic combination of his parents, then Sophie would not share his abilities.]
