Visible crew/equipment: When the girls light the first flare in the cave, the top of a crewmember's head is visible, as he is crouched behind a rock. This is confirmed by Director Neil Marshall on the DVD cast commentary.

Factual error: In the scene where Shauna Macdonald and Natalie Mendoza arrive at the cabin in North Carolina where they will spend the night before descending into the cave, we see them enter the cabin, and then we see two deer skulls mounted on the adjacent wall - two roe deer, native only to Eurasia and never introduced to North America (but native to Scotland, where the picture was filmed). Likewise, they encounter a deer carcass on the hike to the cave - a red stag, also not found in North Carolina.

Continuity: Right near the end of the film, one of the characters is driving away from the caves and eventually pulls over onto a grass verge where she breaks down in tears. Seconds later, a lorry carrying logs drives past her sounding the horn. At this point, you can see that her vehicle is now on the road.

Continuity: When they are crossing the first drop, as the second girl is crossing you can see two people on the right hand side, when there should be only one.

Continuity: When Sarah falls into the pool of blood, the torch falls behind the big rock to her left. In the next shots, the torch is on the top of the rock.

Continuity: When the girls reach the cave, the blue truck parks and the BMW parks on its left side. When the last girl reaches the surface, she gets it the blue truck. When she goes to the truck, the beamer isn't there, But when she pulls out its on the left again.

Revealing: When one of the girls falls and tries to get up to a tunnel, she grabs a large rock to help herself up. You can see the rock bend and wiggle under her weight.

Other: In the hospital scene at the beginning of the film, the cardiac monitor is showing no activity, after she pulls her leads, and the monitor is featured so prominently there is still no activity.

Continuity: When the girls are crossing the first chasm over the huge drop, the first two girls make it to the other end safely using a wire. When the two girls are hooking up the third girl to come across, we can see four people stood behind her. There should only be three.

Continuity: In the second half of the film, after the remaining cavers are trying to escape the creatures, there is a scene where one of the girls attempts to slide through a hole. She hears something behind her, turns and shines her torch around the cave and discovers that several of them are there watching her. She then jumps in the hole and starts to crawl away as quickly as possible. The mistake is to do with the lighting. In the shots which face her, with the small hole behind her, the cavern is bathed in green light from the fluorescent tube. However in the shot showing the torch moving around her and revealing the creatures, there is no green light – it is pitch black. – obviously for dramatic effect. The green light is very strong and lit up one of the caverns earlier, why not this one.?
