Factual error: When Garrison takes a phone call at the Mayflower, the person on the other end tells him to "walk 3 blocks east on Massachusetts Ave., take a left on 12th Street, Las Palmas coffee shop." The Mayflower is at Connecticut Ave. & L Street, about 6 blocks directly west of Massachusetts & 12th. Massachusetts Ave., which runs diagonally, does not form a logical route between the two locations.

Factual error: When Marine One is shot down, it is depicted flying alone. In reality, Marine One always flies in an air motorcade, for exactly this reason.

Plot hole: When Michael Douglas lets the phone ring in the restaurant in order to distract a Secret Service agent, he quickly slips by. But if the corridor is such a crucial point, an additional Secret Service agent should have been placed there. Even ordinary security companies have any 'vulnerable' position guarded.

Factual error: Agent Breckinridge claims that Agent Merriweather's firearm still had its safety on despite the fact that he had managed to clear it from its holster. Agent Marin then explains that in the local police academy, officers are trained to "draw your weapon and flip the safety in two separate actions" whereas the Secret Service academy "trains us to draw and flip in a single motion." The problem with these statements is that Secret Service Agents are issued the Sig Sauer P229 pistol as their standard sidearm. This gun has no external safety levers to "flip."

Continuity: At the very beginning of the movie, when Kim Basinger is in the bedroom and walking towards the mirror, the movements of her reflection do not match her movements. She stops moving and her reflection continues to move.

Plot hole: Right at the end when Pete calls for the "Hard Car" to evacuate the president, he gives very specific orders as to the evacuation point. Considering he was to be arrested on sight, there is no way he would know any of the security arrangements and they would surely have changed them radically because he was such a senior agent. The Secret Service is constantly changing their security.

Factual error: The President goes to the G8 summit in Toronto at the end. The G8 is comprised of Canada, United States, Britain, France, Italy, Japan, Germany and Russia. In the room there are a number of non-G8 countries represented.

Continuity: When Kiefer is running, he steps in a mud puddle. After that his shoes are clean and shined, and his suit is clean also.

Continuity: When Eva Longoria's character first appears on screen, you can see her on a CCTV monitor, she then passes through the door, and the camera moves slightly to show her physically going through the door. You can still see the CCTV image and can see the door is closing, but when you look at the physical door she goes through, it's not moving. It's supposed to be the same door.

Revealing: In many of the scenes, particularly when Michael Douglas is leaving the cafe, you can see onlookers staring into the camera. A possible explanation is that few extras were used.
