It was established in the first Mask, that the mask does not work in the daytime, but it works during the day in this movie. [Mistakes that spawn over different movies don't quite work, especially things as a mystical mask with vaguely determined characteristics. Aside from that Loki's appearance could have changed the properties of the mask (or the time that passed between the two movies), it is within the rights of a filmmaker to apply retroactive continuity to suit the new story.]
When Odin is summoned and is screaming to Loki and Tim is telling him to love his son, you can see the microphone and part of the crew. (At the end). [There is no microphone or crew seen at the end, I've seen the movie a couple of times after reading your submission and didn't see any of those.]
In the first film, it was established that Loki was a night god who was banished into the mask, which explained why it could only work at night. Yet, in this film, Loki isn't in the mask and it has its own powers. [In the first movie Dr Neuman tells Stanley Ipkis that Loki was banished, but it was Stanley who came up with the theory that he *could* have being banished into the mask. Stanley's theory was never proven and it's quite likely he was wrong.]
