Charlie Sheen (the guy in the police station) stayed awake for 2 days, so he could get the right look for the scene.

Anthony Michael Hall turned down roles in Ferris Bueller's Day Off (Cameron), and Pretty In Pink (Duckie) so he wouldn't be typecast.

At the beginning of the scene, in which Rooney calls Ferris's mother to inform her about her son's absence, you can see a poster on a wall in the school that reads "Go Shermer". The Breakfast Club, another John Hughes film, met on a Saturday at "Shermer high school".

The high school where Ferris Bueller's Day Off was filmed is Glenbrook North High School in Northbrook, Illinois. John Hughes graduated from that school in the late 1960's.

When Cameron is lying in bed there are two shots of a hand clicking the answering machine button. That is really director John Hughes' hands clicking the button.

Ferris's father's licence plate reads "mmom" which stands for Mr. Mom. A film that John Hughes did the screenwriting.

An entire subplot involving a prank Ferris did on a Chicago radio station regarding NASA, was cut from the film and the trailers due to the Challenger explosion in January of 1986. (This entire subplot is explained on the DVD commentary.)

The prop crew used four replica fiberglass Ferraris for the film.

Hidden burlap sheets covered the ground where the Ferrari crashed so the ravine would be protected from the broken glass. The crew had little idea of how things would go when the car crashed to the ground; fortunately a fence was there or the vehicle may have rolled into the neighbor's yard.

Throughout the movie, many different characters either sing the words to or hum the song "Danke Schoen". Ferris sings the words in the shower, Mr. Rooney hums it while he is waiting in front of the Bueller's house's door, Jeanie sings it while she is running down the stairs after she kisses Charlie Sheen, and Ferris sings it again during the parade.

The school used in the film is the same school used in 'The Breakfast Club'.

Ferris Bueller's home address is "2800." That address was also director John Hughes, home address when he was a kid.

A punk rock band named Save Ferris got their name from this film. During the film we see several "Save Ferris" references.

When Jeanie is in the police station, the first shot of the scene that we see is a police badge that says Police Officer Shermer. Shermer is the town in which the high school is set in "The Breakfast Club", another John Hughes movie.

Ferris' mom's licence plate reads "Vcation" which stands for "National Lampoon's Vacation." A film for which John Hughes also did the screenwriting.

The licence plate on Jeanie's car says "TBC". This is an abbreviation for The Breakfast Club, another film that John Hughes wrote and produced.

All of the glass walls inside the Ferrari museum were created by the crew. After shooting the film, the crew put the original glass back inside the museum.

The obese guy that is wearing the fishing gear, & dancing during the parade scene, is the film's prop master.
