Toretto: Ask any racer, any real racer. It doesnt matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning's winning.

Mistakes

There is a scene near the end of the movie, where the hero is chasing the two guys on motorcycles that just shot his friend. At one point, first the motorcycles, and then the car leap over a hill on the street. You can clearly see two ramps at the top of the hill, one for each motorcycle. See more...

Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click the edit icon under an entry, then choose "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.

Entry At one point during a party at his house, Dom tosses a glass bottle of beer out of a man's hand - yet there's no sound of it breaking, only hitting the ground like a large ball of metal. Throwing a glass beer such as this would've certainly caused it to break. [This isn't true. Glass bottles can be quite strong.]
Entry In the scene at the end where Dom and Brian are drag racing, Dom's car flips over Brian's. When the camera switches to the inside of his car, look on the dashboard, you can see the camera used for the close up shot of Brian a few seconds ago. [This is actually part of the dial itself: http://www.streetperformance.com/part/auto-meter/gauge-tachometer/26356-3911.html]
Entry Brian says he wants two NO2 tanks by the next day and yet there are two right in front of him. Even if the proprietor didn't have the floor tanks filled (likely), he'd sure have had at least two tanks (or equivalent if he fills them there) on hand. [He is saying to himself that he needs Nos. It's then that the owner gets involved. Not a mistake.]
Entry When Brian is topping out his car in the beginning scene in the stadium lot, He shifts 8 times. No Eclipse is an "8 speed" that suddenly ends up in reverse, making 9 gears. You can see the first 5 to 6 shifts, you can hear the blow off valve for the 7th, and then the final 8th shift. [There is a pause in the first shot but sounds more like a pedal release (for what reason is still up for grabs). 3 shifts are seen in hand shots...and 2 via the clutch. There is a phantom-like pause, hiss, and rpm drop suggesting a shift change but that is questionable and still makes only 6. After that is a downshift for the spinout.]
Entry In the first hijacking scene where the Honda Civic darts under the trailer you hear the car shift up 3 times each time pulling high revs yet the Civic doesn't move forward (at one point it almost goes under the rear wheels of the trailer) or crash into the back of the main tractor unit. Surely with the performance of these vehicles against a laden truck shifting up three time would have caused it to hit the tractor unit.
Entry When the police storm the cafe for Lance, you see him get choke-slammed by an officer and the cop puts his knee on his face. When the shot changes to a close-up of Lance's face, the cop puts his knee on his face again. [The cop in the first shot puts his knee by the side of Lance. In the next shot he brings it up and puts it on his face. Not a mistake.]
Entry In the scene where they are trying to get Vince off the truck the Civic changes from having regular tail lights to the clear ones. [They are normal all the way through. The clear one is the one that was shot out by the driver of the lorry.]
Entry In the last scene when Brian and Dom are racing the quarter mile and after they go past the train, when Dom hits the big truck, you can see the stunt ramp. You can see it if you look under the truck wheels. [I just viewed this scene very carefully and no ramp is visible.]
Entry In the last racing scene between Brian and Dom, there is a shot of Dom's feet. The pedals of the car show that it is an automatic and has no clutch pedal, yet Dom is shown shifting gears as if the car has a standard transmission. [You can't see if there is a clutch due to the smoke off the engine.]
Entry When Brian arrives to Race wars, two big security guys stop him and one says, "Welcome to Race wars." His lips are not in sync with the audio as the audio is about a second too early. [The words are not out of sync - I just watched this part 3 times to make sure.]
Entry When Dom, Ja Rule etc are checking out Brian's engine, Ja Rule looks in the engine bay then declares that Brian has "enough NOS to blow himself up". This is impossible for him to tell just by looking at the engine as the NOS bottles are mounted on the back seat. [Whilst it is true he says that after looking at the engine, he could have seen beforehand that his Nos is on the back.]
Entry In the first street race the amount of racers around at the end of the race is less than the number of cars marking out the track. [Not everyone is up by Dom and Brian. If you look you can see people all the way down the row of cars.]
Entry After the end of the first street race when Dom is going on about being a real racer and how it doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Behind him is a kid in a black shirt with spiky hair, it then cuts over to Brian and the same kid is behind him. [I just watched this and the same people are in the same place depending on the angle. There is someone who looks like the kid behind Brian, who is behind Dom.]
Entry At the beginning, during the first race scene Toretto pulls away from the white car, so there is now some distance between Toretto and the white car, yet when the camera cuts to a front view, the white car is now magically level with Toretto's bumper or very close to it. [I just watched this part of the film and nothing of the kind happens.]
Entry When Brian brings Dom back to the fort, Dom talks to Vince about where they were. When Vince says, "That s**t was orchestrated.", he's seen from the side view, but clearly his mouth doesn't move. [His mouth does move, but it's hard to see due to the shadow.]
Entry Dom and Brian switch sides during the explosion of Brian's car. [They don't switch sides during this scene.]
Entry In one of the aerial shots after the first race. The police cars are driving onto the street. If you look closely you can see several police cars parked on the side streets waiting for the cue to pull onto he streets. [The police could be deliberately using this tactic, so not a mistake.]
Entry In the beginning of the movie when Brian is testing out his Eclipse on the track you will notice that the camera view has changed from the passenger seat to the driver's seat. When the camera is in the driver's seat you can tell that Brian is still driving, now on the right-hand side of the car. This can be noticed by the proximity of the door to the driver. [It's not changed sides, the camera has just zoomed in more.]
Entry In the first street racing scene where Brian first drives up to join the others, a shot of the front underside of his car reveals a hose dangling from under the car. Too much money and effort are put into the construction of these vehicles and something this sloppy would not have been left alone. [Something like that could also happen enroute to the race. I have a BMW 735iL that I take a lot of pride in, yet I have a headlight washer hose that drops below the valance numerous times a month. I don't crawl under the car every time it happens to refasten it. If the dangling hose disappeared in a following shot then it would be a legitimate mistake.]
Entry In the final drag race with the Dodge Charger, you can see the wheelie bar underneath the car, which is used to get the front of the Charger off the ground. If you look closely enough you can also see that the 'burn out' smoke doesn't actually come from the rear wheel tyres at all, but from a generator beside them. [Already submitted and corrected.]
