Entry In the Fairy Godmother's workshop, Shrek dumps the giant cauldron of potion all over the employees and two of them get transformed into what looks like Lumierre and Cogsworth from "Beauty and the Beast" (1991).

Entry When Mongo falls into the moat, The Gingerbread Man jumps in after him screaming "He needs me." Elliot yells the exact same thing when E.T. is taken away, in "ET: The Extra-Terrestrial" (1982).

Entry In the end scene where all the characters are singing the Ricky Martin song, Puss-in-Boots does a spin, sits on a chair, and pulls a cord causing water to pour over him. This is a clear reference to the movie "Flashdance" (1983).

Entry When Puss first sees Shrek and Donkey through the branches of the tree, the camera angle and "purring" sound effect are the same as the creature's viewpoint in "Predator" (1987).

Entry When the police are chasing Shrek, Donkey and Puss in Boots, the radio dispatcher says "We are in a high speed pursuit with a White Bronco....." This is a reference to the infamous O.J. Simpson car chase in 1994.

Entry There is a reference to "Dinner for one" which I'm sure every German person knows when Shrek says the line "Oooo, ill kill that cat", its said in exactly the same way.

Entry During the first bedroom scene with the King and Queen, the king goes to stand on the balcony where he meets the Fairy Godmother. The queen asks where he is going, and the king replies: "Bit of trouble from the old crusade wound, gonna go outside and walk it off" while holding his knee. This is a reference to John Cleese's (King) character in "Fawlty Towers" (1975), Basil Fawlty, who has a war wound in the exact same place, and also uses it as an excuse to get out of a situation.

Entry The potion that is supposed to make Fiona fall in love with Prince Charming comes in a bottle marked "IX." That means it's *Love Potion No. 9*, which was a hit for The Clovers in 1959. Love potion No. 9 is also a film.

Entry In the scene where the giant gingerbread man takes the "Starbucks" coffee cup, you see a crowd of people flee from that Starbucks to another one across the street. This refers to a joke made popular by Lewis Black. (more info here: Starbucks Joke).

Entry In the scene in the Fairy Godmother's workshop, there are two pictures placed next to each other. One picture is a profile of a mean-looking woman, and the picture next to it is of a profile of a witch. This is what Miss Gulch looks like when she transforms into the Wicked Witch of the West in "The Wizard of Oz" (1939).

Entry The first time Shrek enters Fiona's bedchamber, while she is talking to the Fairy Godmother, he starts to pack her stuff. Look at the poster on the wall. It features a blond singer, a dark-haired "guitarist" and it says "Stonehenge." A reference to the film "This is Spinal Tap" (1984), where a rock band with a blond singer and dark-haired guitarist play their hit "Stonehenge."
