The architect mentions a "mother" of the Matrix. Who is she? When Neo asks if it's the Oracle, the Architect says "Please." Does he mean please how can you think that, or please don't interrupt, I'm speaking? [It's the Oracle. The Architect says "please" because Neo called her an oracle. To the Architect, she's just another program. He is scoffing at Neo for using that term, not for coming to that conclusion.]

Quotes
Agent Smith: Surprised to see me?
Neo: No.
Agent Smith: Then you're aware of it.
Neo: Of what?
Agent Smith: Our connection. I don't fully understand how it happened, perhaps some part of you imprinted on to me, something overwritten or copied, it is at this point irrelevant. What matters is whatever happened, happened for a reason.
Neo: And what reason is that?
Agent Smith: I killed you Mr. Anderson, I watched you die, with a certain satisfaction I might add. And then something happened. Something that I knew was impossible but it happened anyway. You destroyed me Mr. Anderson. Afterward, I knew the rules, I understood what I was supposed to do, but I didn't. I couldn't. I was compelled to stay, compelled to disobey. And now here I stand because of you Mr. Anderson, because of you, I am no longer an Agent of this system, because of you I've changed, I'm unplugged, a new man so to speak. Like you, apparently, free.
Neo: Congratulations.
Agent Smith: Thank you. But, as you well know appearances can be decieving, which brings me back to the reason why we're here. We are not here because we're free, we're here because we are not free. There is no escaping reason, no denying purpose, because as we both know, without purpose, we would not exist.
Multiple Smiths: It is purpose that created us. Purpose that connects us. Purpose that pulls us, that guides us, that drive us. It is purpose that defines, purpose that binds us.
Agent Smith: We are here because of you Mr. Anderson. We're here to take from you what you tried to take from us. Purpose.

In the freeway chase scene when one of the agents jumps onto the hood of the first car then jumps off, the car flips, then a second later as the car is still flipping you can see the gas tank has been removed. See more...
Trivia
When the Keymaker is explaining the process that Neo must use to get to the source, he says that the door for the architect will only be open for 314 seconds. The mathematical constant, pi begins with 3.14. Coincidence? See more...

What happened to Tank? Every time he is spoken of it is as if he is dead. Well he survived The Matrix so how did he die? [Marcus Chong wanted a large salary increase to return as Tank. Since he was a fairly minor character, the producers refused and he was written out. Thus his character must have died between the Matrix and Reloaded.]
This may sound like an odd question, but why do Trinity and Neo seem so desperate to see each other alone once they get back to Zion. They seem to have enough time for private moments while they are on the ship. Is sex on the Nebuchadnezzar forbidden? [I doubt it is but from what we gather from the reaction of Link's girlfriend/wife, the Neb seems to see far more action than any other hovercraft in the fleet. It's likely that they spend most of their time jacked in rescuing people, or fleeing from sentinels. The neb's crew is also small, compared to its usual size (only four people compared to its original eight) so they'd all be involved in the piloting and gunning of the craft.]
Why didn't Neo kill the Architect before he left to save Trinity? The Architect seemed important to the machines. [The Architect, is the father and creator of the Matrix. Not only is he important to the machines, he is important to the Matrix itself. Killing him would most likely affect the Matrix in some way.]
Maybe I'm missing something, but why is it such a big deal that Trinity and Morpheus have to take the freeway when they're trying to escape with the Keymaker? Link reminds them that it's never been done, suggesting it's an incredibly risky manoeuvre, but why is this? [Well, when they're on the freeway everybody in the cars are potential agents...the reason it's so dangerous (as opposed to, say, going by foot) is that agents in large vehicles are obviously more dangerous than agents on foot. The agents fear nothing, which is shown when the two agents in the lorries collide with each other.]
When Neo is talking with the Architect, he mentions there has been 7 matrix's including this one. But later he states that it will be the 7th time they've destroyed Zion. So is he hinting that there has been 7 Zion's too? that doesn't really make sense and how has there been time for 7 huge cities to be constructed/populated when its i think around the years 3000, its not a lot of time since the original matrix was made. [Actually it’s the 6th Matrix and the 6th destruction of Zion. Since no one knows what year it is (the freed humans are guessing and the robots aren't telling) you can't say anything about how long it has taken to construct and populate the 6 Zion's. For all we know it can have been going on for 1,000s of years.]
What sort of fabric is Neo's trench coat made of? I would guess wool, but can anyone be more specific? [It was a custom-length black wool garbardine coat. In an interview with the costume designers, they stated a need for a lighter fabric, but still light and sleek for the actors to wear. About half of Morpheus's crew wear black wool gabardine when they jack into the Matrix. The rest use PVC, leather, or a combination of both.]
I don't understand why Persephone let one of the guard go, instead of killing both of them when they're saving the Key Maker. Wouldn't they have made a clean escape that way? [Persephone wants to really stick it to her husband, the Merovingian. By letting one of the guards go tell him she is assuring that he will find out what she did, but it will be too late to stop her.]
This might be regarded as some as an obvious question, but I can't figure it out. In the first movie, when Neo is rescued, it is 1999 in the Matrix, and Morpheus tells him that humankind was taken over by machines sometime in the near future of the Matrix. Now, obviously the machines don't want the humans to find out about this, and they've kept history pretty much accurate so far (with minor alterations to explain the existence of 'agents,' 'rebels,' and so forth) so obviously they can't cycle too far into the future. But they can't stay where they are (if people were born, aged, and died in the space of a few calendar years a lot more people would reject the Matrix) or 'reset' things (same outcome.) They presumably have a way of dealing with this problem; what is it? [There is no reason to assume that history inside the Matrix would bring about the exact same events as happened in the real world. Even if the humans did start to make the developments that, in the real world, gave rise to the mashines and the Matrix, the machines can simply avoid that end result inside the Matrix. For all we know, the machines were planning to have the humans in the Matrix follow the timeline presented by Star Trek rather than what actually happened. Bear in mind too that the Architect mentioned previous Ones and Zions - every time the matrix is reloaded they start at the same point.]
The Burly Brawl doesn't make sense in this movie. Neo as "The One" knows he can win a fight against hundreds of Smith agents , but he does not need to fight. He is not defending anyone at that moment, or fighting for his own survival. Since he is now a super hero, he could simply fly away. Besides he had the important mission of looking for the keymaker in order to save Zion in the real world. The burly brawl was only a waste of time for him. Am I right? [Technically, he could have flew away sooner...but the Burly Brawl is a sort of introduction to him of the millions of Smiths. He probably thought if he could just destroy the first 5 or 6 then they would be gone forever. After several hundred start attacking, he doesn't really get a decent chance to get away before the end of it. He keeps having to fight them off to get away, and as soon as he can, he does.]
Whatever happened to the Twins that work for the Frenchman? They do not appear at all in "Revolutions," or at least not as major characters. [Well, they get defeated. They probably weren't killed, as they reverted to Ghost form (and were still alive when they did it, as they were screaming) which would repair any damage they sustained, but i can't imagine them being willing to go back to the French guy, if he's as powerful as he's made out to be. They're probably just in hiding somewhere.]
Neo seems to understand enough about bending the rules of the Matrix that he can take on 100 Smiths and walk away with no damage whatsoever. Why then does he bleed when taking on the Frenchman's goons? [Smith doesn't use any cutting weapons, whereas it is a blade that cuts him in the Cheatau. Remember, that sword was swung at full force, enough to cleanly chop off a person's hand, and Neo is only scratched.]
In the final trailer and on the UK DVD menu there is a shot of Neo putting his glasses on and it going to 'Matrix view'. Does anyone know why this shot was cut from the film,it's cool. The background looks like the 'Burly Brawl' location. Could it have been at the beginning of that? Any knowledge of this out there? [This was made just for the trailers. The same part (without the Matrix code) can be seen when Smith says "suprised to see me?" to which Neo replies "No." and puts on his sunglasses before the Burly Brawl.]
Neo knew the Oracle wanted to contact him because Bane and the other guy got that disk out of the Matrix. Well, how did that guy get a fake object from the Matrix into the real world? I know there is a corrected mistake for it, but the answer doesn't make sense. [The disk is not really a disk, just as nothing in the Matrix really exists. The people don't wear real clothes; they don't have real weapons; each of these items exists only virtually; they're created by the Matrix, and they look and feel and seem real, but they are not, they're computer code. Therefore, the 'disk' doesn't need to come out of the Matrix into the real world; only the computer code needs to be downloaded, just as always happens when people move from the Matrix back to the real world. There have been other examples of this; if you've seen the Animatrix short, The Final Flight of the Osiris, a large part of the story involves someone trying to drop off a 'tape' at a certain point, within the Matrix, to be picked up by another ship. Obviously, they won't pick up something physical; they'll download the information, which is represented in the Matrix by the tape.]
