In the scene where Ford and the other policeman take off in a police car, there is a shot of the inside of the car showing a computer screen with a flashing word "purge" on it. The screen was originally used in "Alien" when Ripley set off the shuttle to escape from Nostromo.
The entire ending of the film, and other parts of the film was altered at the last minute. The test preview did not get the reaction the head of the studio paying for the film wanted. The audience just didn't get what Ridley Scott was calling "The dark side of comic strip" so they took control, and collaborating with Ridley Scott changed it to what it is today. 25 years on Ridley Scott will be re-releasing the original edit September 2007.
In the scene where Daryl Hannah is startled by William Sanderson outside his home, she runs away toward his parked van and breaks a door window when she collides with it. If you look carefully you can see her slip off the wet curb at the same time. This was a real accident and Daryl Hannah continued with the scene because no one realized it at the time and Ridley Scott didn't yell,"Cut".
Dustin Hoffman was the original choice for the role of Deckard and was briefly cast in the role but dropped out. Director Ridley Scott then cast his second choice for the part, Harrison Ford.
