Trivia

Several of the antagonists were named after movie critics: The villainous character of General Kael was named after the noted film critic Pauline Kael, and the unspoken name of the two-headed dragon is the Ebersisk, a reference to Roger Ebert and Gene Siskel. All of them had previously given Lucas' Star Wars saga a bad review, so you can say it's sweet revenge. See more...

Mistake Revealing: When they are at the Nutmar camp in the mountains, Val Kilmer tells Willow "Get on that shield!" but when they go over a 6, 7, 8 foot drop when they are sledding down the snow, you can clearly see runners on the shield.

Mistake Continuity: Near the end of the movie the camera pans to different villagers as they notice Willow returning after his journey. One of the villagers they show is Willow's wife, although they show her in another scene (a minute or so later) walking from a different area and noticing Willow for the first time (again).

Mistake Revealing: Every once in a while Alora Dannon's hair stays put when she moves her head (fake hair attached to her bonnet!).

Mistake Continuity: Madmartigan's red and blue hair braids switch sides when he is turning into a pig.

Mistake Revealing: When Willow and Madmartigan are cornered in the ruined castle, the general with the scull helmet gets Alora and rides from the battle with her. In several shots it is very obvious that he is holding an empty blanket.

Mistake Continuity: When Madmartigan hands Willow a sword in the castle, then pulls his own sword, it has blood on it but as he jumps on the 3 headed monster, you can see a clean shiny sword (no more blood on it).

Mistake Continuity: While Madmartigan is caged up and Willow says "And supposed you're a warrior", you see Madmartigan playing with the chain in his hand. When it cuts, his hand is holding onto the cage.

Mistake Continuity: When Willow rows out to Raziel's island, he is bone dry, but when the next scene inside the hut opens, he is soaked. In the novel based on the original script, there is a scene of a lake monster which attacked Willow and Raziel as they returned to shore; they shouldn't have cut it out, I think... .

Mistake Continuity: When General Kael takes the baby to Nockmaar Castle, it has an extra 'turret' on the left-hand side, which has disappeared when Willow and Fin Raziel face the castle later on.

Mistake Continuity: When they let Madmartigan out of the cage he grabs Elora and swings her through the air. It cuts to a close-up of her and you can see Madmartigan holding his hand on her chest. When it cuts his hand is on her back.

Mistake Continuity: When they've found Madmartigan in the cage, Burglekutt decides to leave. Willow then places his hand on Vohnkar's shoulder and puts it down when Burglekutt says "It's not his decision". When it cuts, Willow's hand is back on Vohnkar's shoulder.

Mistake Visible crew/equipment: When Willow shows off some magic after he puts the stick through his arm, you see some kids from the village. Look closely at the upper right hand side of the screen you can see a boy,(not one of the midgets), who is wearing a navy blue T-shirt. This boy looks larger than Willow and looks like he is not part the scene.

Mistake Revealing: In the scene when Madmartigan (dressed as a woman) and Willow are being chased in the cart, they jump over a log laying across the road. One of the horse's feet lands on the log, and it squishes, like it was a hollow rubber or plastic log.

Mistake Revealing: When they are escaping in the wagon and the last warrior falls off you can see the wagon's tracks as well as the thicker truck's tire tracks pulling the wagon.

Mistake Continuity: When the midwife runs off with Elora, the baby is practically bald. The "dogs" are immediately sent out for them (as you can see and hear the Queen ordering on screen), but they don't catch up until the baby has grown a full head of red hair. Even the fact that you see the midwife struggling through snow to a green forest, supports this. She is going over the mountains (looking down on the castle), and her pursuers still are not able to follow the tracks she left in the snow.

Mistake Revealing: When Bavmorda and Raziel struggle for control over Sherlindrea's wand (up in the tower Ceremonial Room), lightning bolt shoot out of the wand's tip, and a monolith (among other things) is blasted. The monolith looks like it has been pieced together from cast plastic parts; the fragments' edges are too smooth.

Mistake Continuity: When the general leaves the castle with Alora, his sword is in his right hand. He battles with his sword in his left hand (no sign of Alora in either hand) then rides off with it in his right hand.

Mistake Continuity: When Madmartigan comes rolling down as a huge snowball and hits the wall, snow splatter through the window and hits Willow's head making his hair wet. But a few seconds later when Willow comes out of the hut his hair is dry.

Mistake Continuity: During the wagon chase when Madmartigan is going head on head with the other wagon he throws his weapon right at the warrior holding a spear. When he hits him his spear is visible but when it cuts to him actually falling off the wagon the spear has disappeared.

Mistake Continuity: When Kaiya asks Willow if they should tell the Village Council about Elora, as Willow passes Kaiya, her hand is resting beside Elora. When it cuts to a close-up of Elora, Kaiya's arm is suddenly supporting Elora's head.
