Most of the posed, fake displays in the ape's Museum of Natural History contain real people who are slightly moving if one pays careful attention. Especially noticeable are those posing with objects held in - or above - their hands.
The final scene of the movie has Col. Kirby and the little Vietnamese boy supposedly on the beach at Danang, Vietnam. Kirby is saying, "The future of 'nam is you, kid", and the camera pans out to the sea and the sun is going down. The sun's sinking in the East...
Dick Van Dyke is trying to show his new whistle sweet to Mr Scrumptious, the sweet factory owner. His dog is tied up to a bicycle outside. When his dog hears the whistle he knocks over the bicycle whilst trying to get free and runs up the steps. In the immediate shot following the bicycle is standing up again.
The crew goes up to Calgary in January to extinguish an oil fire, yet there's no snow on the ground, the grass is green, and all the deciduous trees have leaves.
At the end of the movie when Cheyenne is shaving, while Harmonica and Frank are having their shoot-out, he cuts himself at the sound of the gunshots. When Jill tells him that he is a handsome man the cut is gone.
When Rosemary has decided to sneak over to the Castevet's, she removes the towels from the closet shelves. She then tries to shut the door by pushing the towels (on the floor) into the closet. We see that the closet door does NOT shut all the way. Rosemary goes to get a knife, when she gets back to the closet, the door is completely shut, and she must now turn the knob to open it.
In the scene where Walt Coogan is chasing James Ringerman on their motorcycles up the stairs, a funny slip up occurs. Ringerman makes it up OK, and Coogan follows him, only to ride headlong into the corner of the stone staircase. He is just beginning to fall over when Director Don Siegel cuts away to the next scene.
As the Soviet MiGs rush towards Ice Station Zebra, we see five close-ups of the obvious models of the jets. As the actual aircraft fly over the party with the camera on the ground looking up, we see only four jets.
When doctor Nemur, that other doctor, and Mrs. Kinnian are discussing possible complications with Charlie's surgery, there's one shot where Dr. Nemur takes the cigarette out of his mouth and in the next shot it's back in.
In the scene where Max and Leo visit Roger DeBris, Karman Ghia instructs them to remove their shoes because of the white carpet, and they do so. In the next scene, Max and Leo sit down and you can clearly see they have their shoes on.
In the scene where Walther Matthau is making sandwiches for his poker pals (during the movie's first poker game), Matthau drops a loaf of bread on the kitchen floor. If you look at his hand, you'll see that he flicks his thumb to make the loaf of bread fall.
When Barbarella first has to go down for an emergency crash landing, she puts her right arm up to her head in panic. However in the next shot it is her left arm that is up to her head instead of her right.
During the bombardment of the British Consulate, there are several continuity errors, including a self-repairing window and blind situated behind the piano. And it cannot be put down to the nature of the film because several errors have been carefully avoided.
At the beginning of the movie Geoffrey organises an ambush on a group of infantrymen marching on a pristine beach. When the second group of horsemen attacks there are already tracks in the sand, obviously from previous takes.
Hrundi is watching Bill Kelso and his lady friend playing pool. As he watches, note that all of the pool balls are in the corner of the table. Hrundi then talks to them and becomes friendly and gets Kelso's autograph. Then, during the scene suddenly all the pool balls have changes their position and they are now spread out instead of being in the corner. Nobody moved them and nobody shot the balls.
In the famous tugboat scene, Fannie rides out on a New York Central tugboat painted jade green - a color which wasn't instituted on the boats until the early 1960s. To be accurate, the tugboat would have to have been painted red with a black stack and the New York Central logo.
